Requirements:
- Printed PET film as per your design.
- Electric iron or heat press.
Printing is done by DTF Technology which is relatively recent so that designs are printed directly onto film (PET Film) and then transferred them onto garments, such as T-shirts (Cotton, Polyester, etc.)
While DTF transfer is typically done using a heat press machine, it is possible to transfer DTF designs onto T-shirts at home using an electric iron. However, please note that using an iron may not provide the same level of precision and consistency as a heat press machine.
Procedure:
Design your artwork: Create or choose the design you want to print on your T-shirt using graphic design software or find a design from an online source.
Send the design to a T-shirt printing shop providing DTF service: Purchase DTF PET print film from a printing service shop or supplier. They use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and additional White ink so that the multicolor image will be more distinct against a dark T-shirt (black or any color). It is possible to print white letters or images as well, according to your design. You need to specify the requirement so that the printing service shop can provide the print in A4 size (Dhs. 10) or 28 cm x 50 cm (Dhs. 30), depending on the number of T-shirts.
Transfer the design: Place the film onto the T-shirt with the printed side facing the fabric. Ensure it is properly aligned and smooth out any wrinkles. Preheat your electric iron to the appropriate temperature setting for the fabric you are using (150 degrees Celsius). Place a thin cloth or parchment paper over the film to protect it from direct contact with the iron. Apply firm pressure and move the iron in a circular motion over the design for about 10 – 20 seconds. Ensure that the iron is in constant motion and not kept in one spot for too long to prevent scorching or burning the film. Professional printers use a heat press machine for 5 – 10 seconds. It is important to keep in mind that using an electric iron may result in variations in temperature and pressure across the design, which can affect the quality and durability of the print. Additionally, achieving consistent and long-lasting results with an iron can be more challenging compared to a heat press machine.
Peel off the film: After ironing, allow the film to cool down before carefully peeling it off the T-shirt. The design should now be transferred onto the fabric.
If you are looking for high-quality and professional results, it is recommended to utilize the services of a printing service shop that specializes in DTF printing and has access to the necessary equipment. The prints have high durability (more than 50 washes), are more economical, and are suitable for urgent T-shirt printing, even for just one or a few shirts.
