Business Card

Business Card Etiquettes:

We come across different business cards in our daily life and one can assess the quality of the company based on the quality of the card, logo, fonts, layout, colour combination etc. Many go to  printers who do it for cheaper rates to have the card printed for the lowest price. The result would be a card with unprofessional layout, poor printing quality and other mistakes. A stationery shop can have the name printed as ‘stationary’, the text crowded to fill the entire space without sufficient ‘air’, correct spacing, tab setting and alignments.

If your card has already been printed, try to keep the cards with you all the time. Never leave your office without cards. It’s always desirable to keep few fresh cards without any stain or damage preferably in a card case as the crumpled stained card may make a poor first impression.

If you are in an office, never get into a situation where business cards have been finished or given for printing. It is essential to know where you have kept the card in your office. You may lose the credibility if you go through your jacket, drawer, pants, pocket etc in search of the cards.

Business cards are not meant for random distribution like fliers. When you meet a person, you can hand over the card only when someone asks you for it. Give the cards with your right hand with a pause keeping the card horizontally with the front side facing up with due respect so that customer is able to read the card without turning around.

When any of the contact information has been changed, rush to the printer for new cards instead of using handwritten cards. It is considered unprofessional.
