Printer Networking

A Network is the interconnection of devices which helps in transmitting information to and fro said devices. Connecting devices is as easy as plugging a cable but the hardest part is making the connection ie., the network between the devices.

Printer is used in many offices and at homes. In the case of a printer used at home, there is usually no need for networking as there is either only one printer or one computer in most cases. But in offices, there are multiple printer and multiple computers. In this case networking is used which helps in transmitting the printing data from each computer to the printer. For that, connection is made from networking modem to the printer. This establishes the connection to the modem where, the computers are then connected to. These connections are made with the help of network cables. Once the computers and printers are connected to the network modem, each computers should have different IP Address which helps the printer to identify between the computers. The same applies for the printers as well. IP addresses for printers can be set up manually (192.168.1.121) or automatically depending on the printer. The printers IP address are specified as ports in the computer and is assigned after installation of the printer drivers. By correctly porting the printers, and specifying the IP addresses correctly, all the printers and computers can be networked using network modem.
